Hakone is Cooler than Tokyo!
The chart above is the average temperature and precipitation for major areas in Hakone. As you can see, even in August, the average temperature won’t get higher than 25 degrees in Celsius where it sometimes gets more than 35 degrees in Tokyo.
5 degrees cooler through the year
So, on average, it can be said the temperature in Hakone is 5 degrees cooler than Tokyo. That’s one of the reasons why people visit Hakone from all over Japan during hot seasons. On the other hand, Winter gets cold. We have snow probably a couple of times in January and February. Though it gets cold, it’s the best season to see a great view of Mt. Fuji and enjoy nice hot springs!
