“The National Licensed Guide Interpreters” are those who have passed the national exam, have advanced foreign language skills, high-level knowledge related to tourism -history, geography and culture of Japan.
“The Japan Mountain Guides Association” aims to be abreast advanced guiding methods for the entertainment and safety of our clients, and train individual guides and applicants to issue Official Certificates according to their qualifications.
WFA is an internationally acknowledged medical concept and basic life support skills for the outdoor enthusiast on day trips or short adventures. The course is taught by professional instructors with significant-patient-care and backcountry experience.
Explore Hakone is a member of ATTA, a vital leadership voice and partner for the adventure travel industry around the world. The ATTA’s purpose is to nurture and professionalize the responsible and sustainable development of the adventure travel industry.

OUR SUSTAINABILITY POLICY
TO PROTECT OUR ENVIRONMENT
1% of the profit generated from Explore Hakone’s tours will be donated to Hakone town’s Nature Conservation Trust. This trust thrives to support the purchase of specially-appointed conservation land within the National Park, the preservation of buildings of historical and cultural value, and the prevention of deforestation of special wet-land, together with other conservation efforts.
COVID-19
HEALTH AND SAFETY GUIDELINES
On all our tours your safety is most important to us. We follow the Health and Safety Guidelines developed by ATTA to ensure your safety in the present COVID-19 situation. Please find our full guidelines here.
Group Management
We take only one group at a time in order to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19.
Pre Arrival, Instruction and Briefing
Before joining the activity we ask guests to self-assess their physical condition and self-screen their risk profile.
Transport
We prefer to use private vehicles. When it is necessary to use public transport we will endeavour to maintain a safe distance between other passengers, whilst following the guidelines given by the Japanese government.
During Tours
We select less-crowded places and times to minimize our guests’ exposure to other people and groups.
Equipment
If we need to use any equipment, we sanitize it on each occasion and request our guests to avoid sharing items.
